A wise person once said, "Show me the contents of a woman's nightstand and I will show you the contents of that woman's soul." I forget who said that, and I may have made it up just now. I have a friend who, observing the dusty stack of books on my night stand, commented that the table was like a land where good books go to die. In an attempt to refute this, and also to provide some small diversion for myself and those who read this, I propose to keep a running list of the items, books included, on and inside my night table. This will entertain me and may serve as an antidote to insomnia for anyone who reads it. The first inventory will follow soon.
